4 : Britian really wasn't that bad of an colonial power. Yes, they tended to overtax their colonies, but they also offered protection, trade, jobs and technology to their colonies. So did France and Spain and the like, but the British most notably due to their systematic trading system.
5 : Sure, Hitler was a vegitarian, an artist and he sponsered the first research linking cigarettes to lung cancer. But he was also a horrible racist meglomaniac who was pretty much responsible for the death of millions through war and discrimination. No one denies that he did have some good qualities, but he was still ultimately a scumbag. He didn't want to turn his nation into a baston of perfection; he wanted power and knew what the people wanted to hear.
